Cedar Rapids Kernels Ballpark Concept Design

JLG has been working with the City of Cedar Rapids since 2007, collaborating to envision a revitalized downtown. Following the flood of the Cedar River in 2008, a large parcel of land had become available for the re-development of the downtown’s west side. JLG’s proposed concept for this land would relocate the Cedar Rapids Kernels Class A ball team to this new 6,000-seat, $25 million-dollar facility. In this 2018 master plan, the ballpark would be the centerpiece of an urban, mixed-use re-development to feature retail, shopping, residential, and commercial – reactivating downtown, attracting new residents, and reinforcing the local economy.
