Valley City State University Rhoades Science Center

Valley City, North Dakota

The Rhoades Science Center at Valley City State University needed to bring the 40-year old classroom and laboratory building into the 21st century and provide much-needed additional learning spaces. JLG worked with the University to develop a Pre-Design Plan that more than doubled the square footage of the building and helped secure State funding for the $9M project. The JLG design team was able to shave 6 months off of the project by completing the design and bid documents in 11 weeks – allowing the Rhoades Science Center to start construction in the Fall of 2011, rather than the Spring of 2012. In addition, JLG’s in-house estimating team helped bring bids in 8% below budget. The renovation and addition completed in August 2013, was both ahead of schedule and under budget.
