Sanford Pentagon

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

The epicenter of the 162-acre Sanford Sports Complex, the Sanford Pentagon is the premiere destination for basketball in South Dakota. The facility has the possibility of accommodating wrestling, volleyball, trade shows and concerts, and currently hosts NCAA Division II Championships as well as the NSIC basketball tournament.

While the entire facility features modern design and amenities, the Heritage Court located in the center of the building is a premium NBA/college size court with design inspiration reminiscent of 1950s basketball. With its dark-stained parquet floors and vintage-style detailing, the Heritage Court brings visitors back to the 1950s. Local sponsors were asked to use their own graphic advertising done in a vintage style, and the scoreboard even uses the classic dial. The court features suite seating and courtside premiere seating, as is common in modern basketball facilities, but the deep brown wood and strategic lighting keep it tied into the vintage theme.

The building’s unique pentagon shape creates a 360-degree basketball experience with modern amenities for both the community and athletes of all levels. Both the home and visiting teams have VIP lockers, which are second-to-none . Creative planning fit lockers and other support spaces into the uniquely-shaped building while also keep them accessible to the various basketball courts.
