The Eagan Art House has provided meaningful in-person and virtual creative arts experiences in Eagan, MN, for over 25 years. With an aging building and anticipated program growth, Eagan Parks & Recreation partnered with JLG to create a new high performing art house that will provide new, sustainable, and multi-functional art and gathering spaces. The new facility will be unveiled in the fall of 2025, supporting year-round activities and showcasing high-performance environmental design – forging a vibrant community asset that encourages investment in the arts.
The new facility is planned to be the City of Eagan’s first fossil-fuel building. To achieve this milestone, various energy saving measures have been integrated into the design to significantly decrease the building’s energy demands. These strategies include a new geothermal heating and cooling system, roof-mounted solar array for energy production, and various daylighting strategies to further reduce electric lighting loads. To maximize the facilities energy generation capabilities, the roof edge was extended on the north, east, and south sides of the building. This aspect of the design also helps create unique outdoor spaces for students, staff, and community members to gather. With the new building under construction, Eagan Art House continues to offer art classes at their existing building until the new space opens.
