New Altru Hospital’s amenities designed with ‘human experience’ in mind
“This space is very much designed around the human experience – how it feels to be a person in this space,” said Josh Kehrwald, principal architect. “Probably parallel with that – or maybe even slightly above it, depending on the situation – is to make sure we provide spaces that are appropriate for the care that is being delivered within them, making sure we have the right neighbor situation set up, adjacency set up, making sure that our operating rooms have all of the services and ramifications so (the people) … in the operating room can do (their work) safely.” (GF Herald) New Altru Hospital’s amenities designed with ‘human experience’ in mind – Grand Forks Herald | Grand Forks, East Grand Forks news, weather & sports
Dr. Joshua Wynne: Optimal care in a caring environment
There are 158 MD-granting medical schools in the U.S., and most own or operate their own hospital or hospital system. A minority of schools (around one in five) are like the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) and are community-based, meaning that they do not own or operate their own healthcare institution and must rely on the cooperation of local hospital(s) to educate their students. Altru Hospital: A big job tackled by many
“We have incredible gratitude for the many partners we’ve had on this project,” said Kristi Hall-Jiran, executive vice president and chief philanthropy and partnership officer at Altru. “Especially the city of Grand Forks. The city was an early investor as far back as 2018, and of course, the city and Altru have a longstanding partnership. We’ve really appreciated their steadfast support over the years. They’ve invested in both infrastructure and some community benefit things like water supply, some shared costs on pavement and things like that, to the tune of over $4.5 million. They’ve been a cornerstone supporter. JLG Architects and PCL have been some of our bigger supporters, too. We’ve raised just over $12 million to help supplement what we’re doing. It’s really exciting.” (GF Herald) Altru Hospital: A big job tackled by many – Grand Forks Herald | Grand Forks, East Grand Forks news, weather & sports
