BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Bismarck Public Schools (BPS) will soon be hosting the groundbreaking of their new Career and Technical Education (CTE) center, located in the city’s Silver Ranch development.
In 2010, BPS opened its first Career Academy and Technical Center: North Dakota’s first public education facility devoted entirely to CTE programs. Currently, over 1,400 students from grades 9-12 are enrolled in CTE courses, and demand for these opportunities has only risen over time.
According to BPS, the new facility will provide students with additional educational opportunities in multiple trades — including plumbing, electric, HVAC, agriculture, and carpentry services among others. This, they claim, is designed to bring multiple skills and industries together to collaborate on construction projects that model real-world working experiences.
The groundbreaking will take place on November 4th at 1:30 p.m. just north of Silver Ranch Elementary School, off of 2nd Street and Noble Drive. Community partners are invited to attend.
In the event of inclement weather, the groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the Bismarck Career Academy (1221 College Drive). Advance notice will be provided if the venue is moved.
