Inside look at the Heart of America Medical Center’s state-of-the-art technology

Wednesday marks one month since the opening of the new Heart of America Medical facility in Rugby.

RUGBY, N.D. (KMOT) – Wednesday marks one month since the opening of the new Heart of America Medical facility in Rugby.

The old facility has been by Main Street since 1948, and now their new location features new technology and improved care for patients.

Cutting-edge medical care and state-of-the-art technology are what the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby aims to do.

The hospital now has a new MRI and CT Scanner and a fully automated X-ray machine with AI features.

Radiology manager Brian Thompson said they’re the only ones in the state to have that type of X-ray machine.

“Not only do the exams take less time for us and the patients, but then doctors have better images in the backside to read from,” said Thompson.

The new hospital is smaller than the old, but staff said the one-level building is easier to navigate.

“We’re a lot closer together in this new facility. We’re starting to notice that services and results for patients are coming back to us quicker. The technology and some of our new equipment is way more efficient,” said Human Resources Generalist Lauren McClintock.

The center hired two new nurse practitioners, but aside from that, they say staffing has remained the same.

The hospital’s H.R. department said all in-network insurances are accepted.

“Yeah, it was like Christmas for us moving out here. We got all this new machinery, we get to learn on the new equipment. Lots of different training, but everything has made our job a lot better. The patient experience has been a lot better, too,” said Thompson.

The hospital offers a wide range of services including surgeries, and the clinic offers primary care and outpatient services.

It also has a drive-thru and walk-in pharmacy.

“It makes me so excited for the future of Rugby. It’s one of the reasons I’m happy I came back to my hometown. Now I can see that Rugby is going to be here for the long haul,” said McClintock.

The hospital’s daycare, Kids Next Door, was recently awarded $250,000 to update security systems and do some structural repairs. This will allow them to better meet the needs of their employees and their families.

The project cost $62 million, and the funding came from the USDA as well as more than $4 million in community contributions.
