NEW LENOX, I.L. – On June 28th and 29th, the Village of New Lenox, IL, welcomed thousands of community members and athletes to the Grand Opening of the New Lenox Crossroads Sports Complex, now Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex, designed by JLG Architects in partnership with Sports Facilities Companies, Bolton & Menk, Spaceco, and Northern Builders. According to the Chicago Tribune, Wintrust Financial Corporation has signed a three-year naming rights agreement with the Village of New Lenox.
Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex is a $70 million, 31-field complex located at the crossroads of Interstates 355 and 80, next to Silver Cross Hospital, 45 minutes southwest of Chicago.
According to YouthSports Business Report, the Complex has already doubled sponsorship projections to over $2.5M, with direct visitor spending projections jumping from $12.8M to $37M. This nearly triples original forecasts through aggressive strategies that have resulted in a facility that is now booked every weekend through June 2026. The Complex’ early success is likely to have a positive impact on plans for a fieldhouse to be added to the site in the future.
The 100-acre Complex currently includes nine full-size baseball fields, 22 youth baseball and softball fields, two batting cages, and 11 multi-sport fields accommodating soccer, lacrosse, and football. At the site, JLG Architects’ Sports Studio implemented fenced-in, adjustable fields designed to accommodate all ages of athletes. All fields have an extensive drainage system that can filter up to 20 inches of rain per hour, allowing turf fields to be ready for play even minutes after heavy rainfall.
For fans, the Complex offers a welcome center, two full-service concession stands, a Coors Light Chill Zone, a Pepsi Play area, a playground, and 1,300 free parking spaces.
To make it all happen, the team utilized:
- 1.376 million SF of synthetic turf
- 4.38 miles of fencing
- 202,710 SF of netting
- 478,000 SF of concrete
“Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex is a world-class facility with a very bright future – a gamechanger for multi-sport athletic competitions, local recreation, year-round entertainment, and regional resilience. Its immediate success is proof that strategic partnerships and well-designed facilities can achieve sustained demand in a competitive market.”
- Adam Davidson, AIA, LEED AP, Principal Architect – JLG Architects
“The Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex and its emerging development have exactly what it takes to make the Village of New Lenox a regional and national sports destination,” said JLG Architects’ Adam Davidson, AIA, LEED AP, Principal Architect. “JLG’s design ensures long-term success that sets a new standard in youth sports monetization; a flexible facility with zero dark days that provides amenities for every ability, interest, and generation.”
