The Sherwood Foundation has retained JLG Architects to partner with Omaha Public Schools (OPS), for a comprehensive assessment of 100+ athletic and outdoor play facilities across the district. This initiative is designed to provide a clear, data-driven understanding of the current state of OPS’s athletic and recreational amenities, with a focus on identifying and addressing disparities both within the district and in comparison to neighboring districts.
JLG’s process includes detailed site evaluations, technical documentation, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the assessment reflects the needs and values of the OPS community. The ultimate goal is to develop actionable recommendations and a sustainable planning framework that will guide Omaha Public Schools toward greater equity in student access to quality athletic and recreational spaces, supporting the district’s vision for inclusive, active, and thriving school communities.
