Downtown Dickinson Master Plan

Dickinson, North Dakota

The City of Dickinson wanted to create a “living room of the city” — a centerpiece for downtown revitalization that would be developed by the community and support year-round activities and events focused on community wellbeing. JLG is helping Dickinson achieve this goal by developing a master plan that captures what is important to the community, identifies their highest priorities, and ensures those ideas get integrated into the design. Some of the design features include a kinetic sculpture at the corner of Sims and Villard, the integration of the historic facade, a vibrant dining area, wet/dry play area with dinosaur sculpture, and progressive landscaping used to carve out intimate spaces. The Square will also include a stage and plaza to create a flexible community gathering place for various activities and interests. In 2021, the City unanimously approved the design development phase documents for the Town Square, aimed at a summer 2022 public opening. The new Town Square will be a vibrant hub of activity centered around a socially dynamic vibe that will bring businesses and community together in an environment built for enhanced physical and emotional wellbeing.
