Anne Carlsen Center

Jamestown, North Dakota

The Anne Carlsen Center is a Jamestown, North Dakota-based organization founded with the belief that all individuals have worth and should be given the opportunity to live a life of independence. The Center’s focus is to be an educational leader providing services for individuals and families of all ages with cerebral palsy; orthopedic, vision and hearing disabilities; autism, pervasive and other behavior disorders; and several other medical acuities. These services include educational, residential, therapeutic, evaluation, and community-based services, not only in the main location in Jamestown but across the region in satellite facilities and community-based care plans. JLG Architects has been working with the Anne Carlsen Center to design and visualize a masterplan for an innovative new facility focused on education, independent medical care, and housing that will enhance the school’s pedagogical model while investigating new and cutting-edge ways to ensure all children have the chance at independence. The Center will feature 22 medically complex acute care patient rooms, 12 long-term care resident rooms, collaborative learning spaces, family-oriented residential units, a Center for Ideation, as well as an interactive exhibit space exploring the history of the Center.
