Grand Forks Public Schools will celebrate the grand opening of the Career Impact Academy with a community open house Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Shawn Senescall, senior job captain at JLG Architects, emphasized the community’s role in the success of the project.
“The Career Impact Academy is truly a ‘community built’ project,” Senescall said. “From the initial inception, the community stepped up, providing more than $11 million in private donations in just 72 days. The support continued into the design, with industry partners serving on steering committees and providing input during design meetings on curriculum, equipment and the student experience.
“The ‘Impact’ in Career Impact Academy is certainly indicative of the influence it will have on the students that walk through its doors, but it is also representative of the immense leadership from the community in bringing this facility to fruition.”
