City of Moorhead moving forward with new regional library and community center

Rob Remark, principal architect for JLG Architects, said the design concepts should be ready by fall.

MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Moorhead City Council voted unanimously to authorize the agreement with JLG Architects to design the city’s new regional library and community center.

Last November, a majority of city residents voted to add a half-cent sales tax to finance more than $31-million for the new library and center. Up to $3.5 million will be used for design work done by the architects.

Rob Remark, principal architect for JLG Architects, said the design concepts should be ready by fall. He said they will be working closely with the community on establishing as many as six different workshops and different stakeholders, including the leadership from the building committee and those in the community who will be the right groups needed to make the project successful.

The additional city sales tax for the project is estimated to bring in $1.6 million or more annually.
