University of North Dakota Flight Operations Center

Grand Forks, North Dakota

The University of North Dakota Aviation Program, a part of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences, is the top collegiate aviation program in the United States. While this premier program currently functions out of the two-story Flight Operations Building on its airport campus, UND is anticipating a new, more efficient landmark building and new multi-purpose hangar that will celebrate the history of UND Avia-tion, allow for future expansion, enhance partnerships, and create a greater connection to campus. The new, three-story Flight Operations Building prioritizes efficient workflow, technology, and natural light, featuring distinct areas for Dispatch, Records, Instructor Work Areas, a Flight Store, as well as a Grand Lounge with two-story views to the Bravo Apron. The building will also provide Briefing/Debriefing Huddle Rooms, soft seating areas, and an executive Board Room for future aviation professionals. The site design includes updates to the existing parking lot, and the addition of a new parking lot and drainage utility located near the site’s retention pond.
