ND Crime Lab

Bismarck, North Dakota

As an addition to the North Dakota Department of Health Building, the Crime Lab wanted to create its own identity yet relate to the existing building. This is achieved by using precast concrete panels similar to the existing building but with a more contemporary spirit. An angled pylon marking the new Crime Lab entrance and select windows relate to the angled colonnade of the existing building.

The plan is clearly organized by the main lab corridor which separates the administrative and public functions from the secure labs which can only be reached by passing through the biovestibules located at each end.

This project was completed in conjunction with JPL Architects.
