Minot State’s Women’s Hockey

Plan to repurpose and renovate

When Minot State University decided to lace up for one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, JLG was there to make sure the transition was smooth as ice.

After years as a Division 2 club team – in their 2018-19 season, they were ranked No. 1 in the Western Region by the ACHA for seven weeks in a row – Minot State’s Women’s Hockey program made the official move to ACHA Women’s Division 1 starting in the 2019-2020 season. The transition also meant a move by the program under the umbrella of the University’s athletic department, to both help the growth of the sport and to give the student-athletes an NCAA-level experience to support their development as players.

To that end, JLG worked alongside Head Coach Ryan Miner-Green to develop a concept plan to repurpose and renovate a slate of Park District youth locker rooms into the new home of the MSU Women’s Hockey Locker Rooms. The plan created a holistic team locker suite, with new individual lockers, centralized coaching media wall, grooming & shower space, custom stick rack, jersey storage, and a private, dedicated coaches locker room. Stepping into these new spaces allows players and recruits to feel at home.

As Minot State Women’s Hockey is not yet a funded program at the University and is working on a very tight budget, JLG both donated the work for the concept plan, as well as made a financial donation to support the success of the team.
