JLG Architects is seeking a Sports Project Architect. Not just any professional, mind you. A Sports Project Architect:
- Lives sports… A JLG Sports Project Architect knows what it takes to build practice and competition fields and courts for all types of sports, including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, softball, soccer, and volleyball – and how to take those spaces outside-the-box.
- …Both on and off the field. A JLG Sports Architect is as knowledgeable of the fan experience and they are on sports medicine, sight lines, A/V, and food service.

Lead design and documentation in all phases of project, including execution of program, code, technical, and design requirements while meeting the owner’s project goals, schedule and budget in accordance with the firm’s quality control objectives per the JLG Project Checklist and standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the planning, design, documentation, and construction of collegiate sport and public recreation & wellness projects
- Proven ability to function in all phases of project development from Pre-Design through Construction Phase
- Revit proficiency
- Thorough knowledge of JLG production standards, tools and processes
- Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make independent decisions
- Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills, an ability to work well with others, and gain client confidence
- Broad technical knowledge, construction detailing, materials, and field experience working on athletic projects
- Thorough understanding of sight lines, seating, and other features of seating bowls
- Knowledgeable about current athletic trends including fan & student-athlete experience, recruiting, sports medicine, technology, lighting, A/V, and food service
- Familiar with practice and competition fields & courts for all types of sports including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, softball, soccer, and volleyball
- Comfortable with role of "champion" and leading team of specialty consultants, vendors, and other athletic entities
- Familiar with code and life safety issues inherent in athletic projects
- Ability to think outside the box and design awesome athletic projects

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following (other duties may be assigned)
- Participate in proposal writing, especially drafting project approach and work plan.
- Provide practice specific project knowledge recommendations to achieve owner's goals.
- Develop rapport with and gain confidence of ownership & stakeholder team.
- Provide recommended Stakeholder Engagement Approach and Plan.
- Guide owner and stakeholders thru decision making process according to JLG Project Workplan.
- Foster collaboration with project leadership, project team and stakeholders.
- Maintain client goals including schedule and budget.
- Manage client expectations throughout the project, including construction phase.
- Provide information for weekly or bi-weekly Project Status Report.
- Lead project documentation phases to ensure project documents follow JLG Standards, Owner Standards, and Standard of Care for project.
- Have a clear understanding of the contracted scope of work and align the Project Checklist accordingly.
- Contribute to the Project Work Plan to align and hold project teams accountable.
- Coordinate all of the document development efforts of the team members to achieve a building that is code compliant, technically sound, and meets project goals, including schedule and budget.
- Maintain client's schedule and budget parameters by executing the project work plan using the JLG Project Checklist.
- Guide development of solutions to technical problems.
- Confidently display a sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines and construction practices to coordinate with consultants and contractors.
- Display a competent knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
- Understand the requirements of and clearly communicate with governmental agencies, building codes and zoning jurisdictions.
- Hone knowledge of professional ethics applying to the practice of Architecture.
- Assess internal and construction cost estimates and schedules against budgets and goals with Project Manager.
- Assume direct responsibility for quality control of the project; review and approve the technical content and method of presentation of all project deliverables, following established JLG standards and processes.
- Follow JLG Project Closeout process.
- Oversee the design and technical execution of the project.
- Report directly to the Project Manager any matters that jeopardize the success of project which cannot be resolved at intermediate levels of responsibility, including staff performance.
