JLG Architects is seeking a Healthcare Design Architect to work side-by-side with JLG’s Principal Healthcare Studio Leader. A Healthcare Design Architect:

Lead design oversight in all phases of project, including execution of program, code, technical, and design requirements while meeting the owner’s project goals, schedule and budget in accordance with the firm’s quality control objectives per the JLG Project Checklist and standards.
Location: Any of our JLG offices

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare projects with a combination of Ambulatory Care and Acute Care projects, to include (not exclusive) experience in clinic, imaging, procedural, surgical, nursing unit environments
o Passion for design and in particular healthcare design and the drive to create creative solutions to complex healthcare projects
o Experience with Campus and Health System Masterplanning
o Understanding of Evidence Based Design strategy and focus and LEAN design principles, EDAC certification is preferred
o A passion for mentorship and helping train the next generation of healthcare designers
o Proven ability to function in all phases of project development from Master planning and Pre-Design through Construction Phase
o Revit experience
o Design tool proficiency
o Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make independent decisions
o Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills, an ability to work well with others, and gain client confidence, and lead diverse teams
o Broad technical knowledge, construction detailing, materials, and field experience working on healthcare projects
o Knowledgeable about current healthcare trends including creating healing environments, optimizing clinical workflows, the patient and guest experience, key role of design in the recruiting and retention of clinical staff, infection control, technology, lighting, A/V, and food service to serve as a thought leader
o Comfortable with role of "champion" and leading team of specialty consultants, vendors, and other healthcare entities
o Familiar with code and life safety issues inherent in healthcare projects
o Ability to think outside the box and design awesome and innovative healthcare projects
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following (other duties may be assigned)
o Participate in proposal writing, especially drafting project approach and work plan.
o Provide practice specific project knowledge recommendations to achieve owner's goals.
o Business development opportunities to include RFP response, thought leadership, client outreach, and conference and tradeshow engagement.
o Develop rapport with and gain confidence of ownership & stakeholder team.
o Provide recommended Stakeholder Engagement Approach and Plan.
o Guide owner and stakeholders thru decision making process according to JLG Project Workplan.
o Lead the process of programming and design worksessions/charettes in the design phases to drive medical planning and design.
o Foster collaboration with project leadership, project team and stakeholders.
o Maintain client goals including schedule and budget.
o Manage client expectations throughout the project, including construction phase.
o Provide information to Project Manager for weekly or bi-weekly Project Status Report.
o Lead project design phases in collaboration with Project Manager to ensure project documents follow JLG Standards, Owner Standards, and Standard of Care for project.
o Have a clear understanding of the contracted scope of work and coordinate with Project Manager to align the Project Checklist accordingly.
o Contribute to the Project Work Plan to align and hold project teams accountable.
o Oversee the team during document development efforts to achieve a building that is code compliant, technically sound, and meets project goals, including schedule and budget.
o Maintain client's schedule and budget parameters.
o Confidently display a sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines and construction practices to coordinate with consultants during design phases.
o Display a competent knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
o Understand the requirements of governmental agencies, building codes and zoning jurisdictions.
o Hone knowledge of professional ethics applying to the practice of Architecture.
o Assess internal and construction cost estimates and schedules against budgets and goals with Project Manager.
o Assume direct responsibility for quality control of the project; review and approve the technical content and method of presentation of all project deliverables, following established JLG standards and processes.
o Follow JLG Project Closeout process.
o Oversee the design of the project.
o Report directly to the Project Manager any matters that jeopardize the success of project which cannot be resolved at intermediate levels of responsibility, including staff performance.
