This 8,000 seat arena for the UNO Mavericks features an uninterrupted main seating bowl, plus upper deck premium seating (clubs, suites, and lounges). Top of the line team facilities provide all the necessary locker room and training spaces for the home teams. The competition area is designed to host ice hockey, with provisions for handling the Mavericks men’s and women’s basketball games as well. A large open entry plaza allows access from several different directions, with on-site parking and off-site shuttles from other parking areas.
Upon entry, visitors are directed through the prominent lobby atrium space, up to the concourse levels. The main concourse provides access to team store, administration, and seating areas. A redeveloped public trail system runs immediately adjacent to the site, and the arena site is home to field sports such as baseball and soccer. The design allows for Phased additions of ice practice sheet, practice basketball court, additional locker spaces, and the entire athletic department administrative offices.
The building is set into natural contours of the site and has minimal impact on the existing space. In addition, the site will contain a large drainage pond which will be part of a visually striking landscape design. Finally, the facility combines all offices for athletics into one location to maximize shared administrative space.
