University of North Dakota Gorecki Alumni Center

Grand Forks, North Dakota

The University of North Dakota Alumni and Foundation Center is the “front door” and first impression of the campus, designed by JLG to welcome all inclusively at the heart of campus. As North Dakota’s first and only LEED Platinum-certified building, the Alumni Center was motivated to educate the community, visitors, and students by actively demonstrating sustainable design in extreme, cold climates. With verified data evaluated over seven years, the Center is outperforming national benchmarks in net zero design and lowering operational costs, all while conveying a sense of indoor/outdoor connection to both the community and campus. At approximately 38,000 SF, the Alumni Center houses development, alumni services, and administration functions in addition to a 200-seat ballroom and state-of-the-art conference facility. The Center serves not only former students, but also acts as a central point of communication for new and potential students visiting the campus.
