St. Cloud State University Shoemaker Hall North

St. Cloud, Minnesota

JLG Architects designed the renovation to Shoemaker Hall, a 100 bed residence hall on the St. Cloud State University Campus. The new design incorporates private shower spaces and enhanced toilet/washing facilities that provide a mix of privacy and built-in social space for students. The residence hall is configured so that it may be easily converted from co-ed to single-sex occupancy with no retrofitting of the facilities. The project goals included creating an atmosphere where students can collaborate with each other and faculty on educational opportunities within the proximity of their living space. The latest technology in sustainable design is being utilized: energy-recovery on the ventilation, water saving fixtures, re-use/repurposing of currently underutilized space.
