Bismarck State College Communications and Creative Arts Center

Bismarck, North Dakota

Bismarck State College’s Communications and Creative Arts Center is a state-of-the-art facility that is the educational center of campus. The 40,000 SF facility is a three-level building with access to the lower level from the intersection of Schafer Avenue and Edwards Avenue, and access to the second floor from Schafer Hall and through a skyway link to Jack Science Center. JLG designed the first floor as a home to the Learning and Commons spaces, which house portions of the existing library stacks and archive spaces, and a large, open reading area that acts as an educational gathering space. The second level consists of additional classroom spaces, an art gallery, faculty offices, and the Ceramics studio adjacent to the loading area. The third level is home to the Visual Arts department spaces, faculty offices, and additional classrooms. The exterior of the building is distinctly designed in brick and masonry which complements the adjacent buildings, glass storefront and windows, and metal panels that reflect the brand of Bismarck State College. The Communications and Creative Arts Center is an inspirational hub for gathering faculty and students while exploring creative arts.
