Northern Heights at Griggs Square

The area surrounding the former Grand Forks Civic Auditorium was once a vibrant entrance to downtown, but when the Auditorium was vacated, the area was overcome by a parking lot and broken sidewalks. Dakota Commercial & Development partnered with JLG Architects to transform the neighborhood into a place where the young and cool want to live and shop. In tandem with a complimentary mixed-use development across the street, JLG helped create a modern, sustainable, and energy-efficient housing complex with ground-floor retail space. The building’s contemporary design and spacious floor plans have been a popular attraction to residents, keeping vacancy rates at 0% since opening. With strong architectural forms and bold colors, Northern Heights creates an iconic, walkable, and enticing gateway between downtown and the neighboring commercial district.
