Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative

Williston, North Dakota

Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative (MWEC) is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric distribution cooperative with a powerful responsibility – keeping the lights on for everyone in northwestern North Dakota. After the region’s oil boom sparked an uptick in demand, MWEC turned to JLG to redevelop their existing site with a new building that would showcase energy efficiency through sustainable design. Today, MWEC is one of only 12 facilities in North Dakota to achieve a LEED Gold rating. Through integration of electric-based heating/cooling, geothermal batteries, monitoring systems that track kW usage, native landscaping, and active daylighting, MWEC has reinforced its regional reliability. This is architecture that goes beyond the building to be stewards of the region’s resources, care for its community, and provide for its members
